  • At Civic Waste, we're a long standing supplier of services to NZ cities. We contract to Councils and large corporations for street cleaning services such as waste collection, road sweeping, removing graffiti, hydro vacuum services, pavement cleaning and more!

    We have an opportunity for a Leading Hand (Crew Lead) based at our Auckland airport branch working minimum 11 hours per day 4 days per week. Hours of work are 10.30pm - 10am four days worked four days off.

    You will be responsible for leading and directing staff, achieving health and safety objectives, ensuring compliance and monitoring resources to achieve quality and delivery outcomes.

    Duties of the role will include, but will not be limited to:
    • Plan weekly work allocation and ensure areas/shifts are covered
    • Ensure team members are carrying out expected work in both quality and safety
    • Arrange Airside cabin/road sweeper callouts and daily oversight of scheduled sweep operations
    • FOD control bins & litter when required
    • Incident reporting in conjunction with the Supervisor
    • First aid administering
    • Recording of staff hours and approving timesheets
    • Oversight of staff toolbox meetings
    • Shift handover with Supervisor and other Team Leaders
    • Daily completion of internal shift reports
    • Be back up Sweeper Driver and Hard Surface Cleaning Operator if required
    • Carry out any other work activities as reasonably directed by the Manager
    We are looking for someone with a positive attitude and the ability to demonstrate leadership skills and give direction and feedback. You will also need strong communication skills, high attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal supervision and use initiative.

    Our successful applicant will have the following:
    • Team Leader experience is preferred
    • Current clean full NZ Class 1
    • Class 2 driver's licence is preferred, but you must be willing to gain this if you do not hold one
    • Hold or be willing to gain a Stage 1 & 2 Airside Driving Permit and Kerbside Collection Traffic Lead certifications
    • Good computer skills (including MS Word & Outlook) with the ability to use internal systems and apps
    • Excellent time management and organisational skills
    Flexibility for weekend work is also required.
