  • Bring your SolidWorks & AutoCAD skills to real-world mechanical projects
  • Designing GRP pump stations and storage solutions
  • NZ-owned, family business with a great team culture

  • Pump & Valve Specialties Ltd is a New Zealand-owned company specialising in pumps and associated equipment for customers throughout the country.

Our Civil division operates in a niche market, designing and building GRP/fibreglass packaged pump stations, wet wells, horizontal storage tanks and ancillary equipment for councils, contractors and industry across New Zealand.

We're looking for a Mechanical Draftsperson to join our team at our Mangere site.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys more than simply producing drawings. You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, production and clients, helping turn project requirements into practical designs that are manufactured and installed in the real world.

    About the role

Working within our Civil division, your responsibilities will include:
    • Producing detailed mechanical drawings for GRP/fibreglass packaged pump stations, storage tanks and ancillary chambers
    • Preparing general arrangement (GA), assembly and site layout drawings
    • Working with internal engineers and clients to ensure drawings meet project requirements
    • Maintaining drawing registers, revisions and documentation to company standards
    • Supporting the quoting process and project handover through to production and project management
    About you:
    • Proficiency in SolidWorks and AutoCAD
    • Mechanical drafting experience, ideally within fabrication, manufacturing, civil or piping
    • The ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and site drawings
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
    • A methodical and organised approach to your work
    • The ability to manage your own workload with minimal supervision
    • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
Most importantly, we're looking for someone with a genuine interest in mechanical and fabrication design and innovation, rather than someone who simply wants to sit behind a screen producing CAD drawings.

Why join Pump & Valve Specialties?

You'll be joining a small, close-knit design and drafting team where you'll work alongside project management, production and clients on a variety of real-world projects.

We're a family-owned company that genuinely cares about its people, and our Civil team takes pride in working together to deliver practical solutions that make life easier for our clients.

    You'll enjoy:
    • A supportive, down-to-earth team culture
    • Interesting and varied mechanical design work
    • The opportunity to see your drawings become finished, physical projects
    • A Monday to Friday, 40-hour working week
    • Onsite parking at our Mangere premises
    • The stability of an established New Zealand-owned business
If you're an experienced Mechanical Draftsperson looking for a hands-on design role where you can contribute ideas and see the end result of your work, we'd love to hear from you.
