David Jones Motors is Whanganui's Largest motor vehicle dealer. We are seeking a qualified and motivated Automotive Service Technician to join our busy workshop team.
The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance, and repair work to manufacturer standards while delivering high levels of workmanship, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a professional dealership environment, utilizing the latest diagnostic equipment and technology while contributing to a strong team culture.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform routine vehicle servicing and scheduled maintenance.
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic vehicle faults.
- Conduct vehicle inspections and identify any additional repair requirements.
- Complete warranty and customer work in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
- Maintain accurate workshop documentation and repair orders.
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and to the highest quality standards.
- Use diagnostic equipment and technical resources effectively.
- Assist in maintaining a clean, organised, and safe workshop environment.
- Work collaboratively with Service Advisors, Parts Department staff, and fellow technicians.
- Participate in manufacturer training and ongoing professional development.
Skills and Experience
Essential:- Trade qualification in Automotive Engineering or equivalent Level 4 NZQA.
- 1+ year experience as an Automotive Service Technician
- Current driver's licence.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety practices.
Preferred:- Warrant of Fitness (WoF) Certification.
- Experience with Nissan, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Kia, Suzuki, or other franchise brands.
- Electrical and advanced diagnostic experience.
- Previous dealership experience.
