At Kings Plant Barn, we've been helping Aucklanders create spaces they love for over 30 years. What began as one small garden centre has grown into seven stores and a dedicated nursery, built on a passion for plants, exceptional customer service, and a belief that gardening enriches people's lives.
We're entering an exciting new chapter of growth, and we're looking for an exceptional Head of Marketing to help lead the journey.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the CEO and working alongside our Senior Leadership Team, this is a rare opportunity to build and lead the marketing function for a highly respected retail brand.
You'll be responsible for developing and executing a commercially focused marketing strategy that strengthens our brand, grows customer loyalty, drives retail sales, and accelerates digital growth. You'll have the freedom to shape the function, challenge the status quo, and make a genuine impact across the business.
This is a leadership role for someone who enjoys thinking strategically while remaining hands-on enough to bring great ideas to life.
What You'll Be Doing:- Develop and deliver Kings Plant Barn's marketing, brand and digital strategy.
- Drive customer acquisition, loyalty and growth through integrated retail and digital campaigns.
- Lead our eCommerce, CRM and digital marketing performance.
- Manage the marketing budget, measuring ROI and optimising investment.
- Use customer insights and market trends to identify growth opportunities.
- Lead and develop a high-performing marketing team.
- Partner with Retail, Merchandise, Finance and Operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences and commercial outcomes.
- Manage agency and supplier relationships to maximise performance.
About You
You're an experienced marketing leader who combines commercial thinking with creativity and a passion for delivering results.
You'll bring:- A proven track record of developing and executing marketing strategies that deliver measurable commercial outcomes.
- Significant marketing leadership experience within retail, consumer or multi-site businesses.
- Strong digital and eCommerce capability, including CRM, customer acquisition, loyalty, performance marketing and omnichannel customer experience.
- Experience managing marketing budgets and demonstrating return on marketing spend.
- Excellent commercial acumen, with the ability to use customer insights, market data and business performance metrics to drive strategic decision-making.
- Confidence influencing senior stakeholders and contributing as a trusted member of the leadership team.
- Experience working cross-functionally Product, Finance and Operations to deliver business-wide outcomes.
- A pragmatic, hands-on leadership style - you enjoy rolling up your sleeves when needed while empowering your team to succeed.
- Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to balance strategic priorities with operational execution in a fast-paced environment.
- A collaborative leadership style that builds capability, trust, accountability and high performance.
