Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for the commercial management of projects from tender through to final account. Working closely with our estimating, manufacturing, project management and site teams, you'll ensure projects remain financially successful while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
Your responsibilities will include:- Preparing accurate cost estimates, tender submissions and pricing proposals.
- Completing quantity take-offs from architectural, structural and shop drawings.
- Managing project budgets, forecasting and cost reporting.
- Procuring subcontractors, suppliers and specialist services.
- Preparing and administering subcontract agreements.
- Managing progress claims, payment schedules and final accounts.
- Pricing and negotiating variations.
- Monitoring project costs and identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
- Supporting Project Managers throughout project delivery.
- Liaising with clients, consultants and Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction companies.
- Maintaining accurate commercial records and contractual documentation.
- Assisting with procurement of steel, fabrication materials and subcontract services.
- Contributing to continuous improvement of commercial systems and processes.
About You
To be successful in this role, you'll have:- A qualification in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline (preferred).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the manufacturing, structural steel, metal fabrication or commercial construction industry preferable.
- Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing processes and how they impact project costing.
- Experience working with Tier 1 and Tier 2 construction companies and a sound understanding of their commercial and contractual requirements.
- Knowledge of NZS 3910 and standard New Zealand construction contracts.
- Strong estimating, budgeting and financial management skills.
- Excellent negotiation and relationship management abilities.
- High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and estimating/project management software.
- A full New Zealand driver's licence.
