We're a value-driven business with strong customer relationships at our core, and we're looking for a Sales & Account Manager to take responsibility for the overall sales function of the business, grow customer relationships, and drive sales performance.
About the role
You'll be responsible for leading, coordinating, and improving the overall sales function across the business. This includes keeping sales activity focused and organised, driving customer follow-up, managing opportunities, supporting account growth, and ensuring commercial outcomes are achieved.
Key responsibilities include:- Managing and growing an established customer base
- Building strong, long-term relationships with builders, tradies, and construction companies
- Looking for opportunities to deliver more value to customers through better service, product knowledge, and practical support
- Developing new business opportunities across the Waikato
- Taking ownership of sales planning, customer follow-up, account growth, and commercial opportunities
- Understanding margins, pricing, and profitability when preparing quotes and proposals
- Using POS and sales systems to manage customer information, pricing, quoting, and sales activity
- Preparing pricing, quotes, and proposals in collaboration with the branch team
- Identifying opportunities to increase share of wallet.
- Working closely with operations and sales support to deliver excellent service
About you
You'll be someone who understands the building industry, enjoys working with people, and takes pride in being reliable, helpful, and easy to deal with.
You'll bring:- Proven experience in account management or sales within a builders merchant, building supplies, or construction-related environment
- Strong relationships within the building or construction industry would be an advantage
- A practical, customer-first approach with a focus on delivering value
- Good commercial awareness and confidence discussing pricing, quotes, margins, and opportunities
- A proactive, self-motivated attitude with strong time management
- Clear communication skills and a professional, trustworthy manner
- Good knowledge of building materials, products, and how they're used on site
- Comfortable using POS, quoting, and sales systems to manage customers, pricing, margins, and day-to-day sales activity
- Be comfortable hosting customers at events, supplier functions, trade nights, and other relationship-building opportunities
- A current full NZ driver's licence
