Three Rivers Contracting is a well-established agricultural contracting, transport and quarry business based in Southland. With a modern fleet and a commitment to quality, we pride ourselves on keeping our equipment operating at its best through innovation, reliability and skilled workmanship.
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer / General Engineer to join our busy workshop in Wyndham.
This is a hands-on role offering plenty of variety, where you'll play a key part in supporting our agricultural contracting, transport and quarry operations through fabrication, welding, machining, repairs and preventative maintenance.
About the Role
No two days are the same. Your work will include:- General engineering and heavy steel fabrication
- MIG, TIG and Arc welding
- Manufacturing and repairing machinery components
- Fabricating custom parts where replacements aren't available
- Repairing and modifying agricultural, transport and quarry equipment
- Bucket repairs, wear plate replacement and chassis modifications
- Machining, fitting and assembly work
- Emergency breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance
- Working alongside our mechanics to minimise equipment downtime
- Identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and workshop efficiency
You'll be working on a wide variety of equipment including trucks, trailers, tractors, balers, wrappers, excavators, loaders, rollers, quarry plant, hydraulic attachments and other specialised machinery.
About You:- Holds a Mechanical Engineering, General Engineering or equivalent trade qualification
- Has proven experience in heavy fabrication, welding and general engineering
- Has strong MIG, TIG and Arc welding skills
- Can confidently read and interpret engineering drawings
- Has experience repairing heavy machinery, agricultural equipment, transport or quarry plant
- Is a practical problem solver with excellent attention to detail
- Takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Is reliable, motivated and committed to maintaining a safe workplace
- Brings a positive attitude and a strong work ethic every day
