Ray Mayne Hose & Fittings is a well-established business based in Ashburton, proudly servicing the wider Mid Canterbury region. We specialise in irrigation systems, TurboRain equipment, pumps, and a broad range of engineering and installation services for the agricultural sector.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Irrigation Engineer to join our team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
This is a varied and rewarding position that combines field service work, engineering, fabrication, and pump installations. You will be responsible for servicing and maintaining TurboRain irrigators and TurboReel hose trailers, manufacturing and installing submersible pump systems, and carrying out a range of engineering tasks to support our customers throughout Mid Canterbury.
Working closely with our Service Manager, parts team, and office staff, you will play an important role in ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard.
Your responsibilities will include:- Servicing and maintaining TurboRain irrigators and TurboReel hose trailers in the field.
- Manufacturing, servicing, and installing surface and submersible pumps and associated equipment.
- Carrying out engineering, fabrication, and machining tasks as required.
- Reading specifications and drawings to identify materials, labour, and time requirements.
- Completing work to quality, productivity, and customer expectations.
- Maintaining accurate job documentation and time records.
- Ensuring tools, vehicles, and equipment are maintained and used safely.
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with customers, suppliers, and service providers.
- Contributing ideas and improvements that enhance company products, systems, and processes.
About You
We're looking for someone who:- Has a minimum of 5 years' workshop and trade experience, including machining and fabrication.
- Can read engineering drawings and work with minimal supervision.
- Possesses strong mechanical and engineering skills with excellent problem-solving ability.
- Has sound knowledge of farm machinery, particularly irrigation equipment, gearboxes, and pumps.
- Is practical, organised, and able to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Works well under pressure while maintaining a high standard of workmanship.
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills and enjoys working with customers.
- Is confident using basic MS Office applications and willing to learn company systems.
- Takes pride in maintaining a clean, tidy, and safe work environment.
- Has a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn and adapt.
- Is committed to upholding health and safety standards at all times.
