We're a private family-owned transport business that's built on hard work, trust, and doing the task properly. As the company continues to scale, we're adding a new, hands-on role to support our operators and keep the operation running safely and smoothly.

The role will require you to be out in the yard, on the road, and working alongside our team throughout NZ. The role will be an integral part of the Management team, and you will be required to report on training and safety performance metrics.

    About the Role

This is not a desk-only position job. We're looking for someone who's comfortable being out with operators, in trucks, and on-site, assisting operators do the task safely and properly.

You'll take the lead on ensuring safety standards are upheld and provide operator training, ensuring we are compliant and company procedures and protocols are adopted and executed.

    What You'll Be Doing:
    • Work alongside operators - coaching, and in-cab training and assessment
    • Conduct random CCTV assessment to monitor performance standards
    • Run inductions, refreshers, and toolbox talks
    • Keep our health & safety systems simple, effective, and compliant
    • The role will require some safety management system compliance audits and reporting
    • Ensure we meet NZ legislative requirements (WorkSafe, NZTA, Dangerous Goods rules)
    • Train on topics such as:
      - Bulk Fuel, Bulk Bitumen & Emulsion, Skele-trailer container operations
      - Load and unload procedures and tanker operations
      - Fatigue and logbooks
      - Safe driving and good risk management
      - Company safety protocols and standards
      - Emergency response
    • Investigate incidents and sort out practical fixes that actually work
    • Ensure our high standards are upheld across company
    • Spend time in the depot and on the road - not only in an office
    • Ensure all necessary training records and safety records are current
    • Schedule and coordinate training programs
    • Build strong relationships with operators and lead by example
    • Participate in new operator recruitment and training
    • The position will require some travel and time away
    What We're Looking For

We want someone who understands transport - ideally someone who's been there and done it.

    You'll need to be:
    • Hands-on and practical
    • Comfortable working directly with operators
    • Able to explain things clearly without overcomplicating them
    • Firm but fair - consistent in how training is provided
    • Solutions-focused (not just ticking boxes)
    Experience required:
    • Background in transport, logistics, or heavy vehicles
    • Good understanding of NZ health & safety and transport rules
    • Experience training, mentoring, and supervising operators
    • Class 5 driving experience essential
It would be great if you also have:
    • Dangerous Goods endorsement
    • Health & Safety qualification (or working towards one)
    • Experience with tanker or bulk operations
    Why Join Us?:
    • Work for a family business that backs its people
    • Be part of a growing company where your role matters
    • Get out from behind a desk - real, hands-on work

    • Competitive pay and a solid team environment
What Else You Need to Know:
    • Full NZ driver licence required with Class 5 experience
    • Dangerous Goods endorsement (or willingness to get it)
    • Must pass drug and alcohol testing
    • Must be legally allowed to work in NZ
