We're currently seeking a motivated and capable individual to join our team as a Truck Driver & Junior Operations Assistant.
This is a unique opportunity to combine freight driving, customer coordination, quoting, and freight administration. Approximately 70% of your time will be spent driving and handling freight, with the remaining 30% supporting freight operations, shipment quoting, and administration.
Key Responsibilities
Transport & Freight Handling:- Collect and deliver freight using a Class A Hino truck across Auckland
- Load and unload cargo manually and using tail lift, pallet jack, and hand truck
- Ensure freight is securely loaded and transported safely in accordance with NZ Road Rules
- Check, count, and inspect all freight on collection and delivery
- Record and report any damage, discrepancies, or issues (including photos)
- Maintain vehicle condition including cleaning, fueling, fluids, and battery checks
Operations & Logistics Support:- Provide same-day freight quotes for domestic and international shipments
- Book courier consignments and provide shipment updates to clients
- Arrange domestic transport for import and export consignments
- Track shipments, follow up with carriers, and provide PODs to clients
- Monitor container movements, detention risks, and coordinate collections
- Support insurance claim preparation, lodgement, and client communication
- Assist with invoicing of jobs and ensure charges are accurately captured and processed within the same month
- Support the operations team with day-to-day administration and office support
We're looking for someone who is switched on, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with numbers and measurements.
You'll need to demonstrate:- A current, clean Full New Zealand Driver Licence.
- Confidence driving a manual vehicle (our delivery truck only requires a Class 1 licence).
- Good physical fitness and the ability to safely lift and move freight weighing up to 25kg.
- No medical conditions that could impact your ability to safely drive or handle freight.
- The ability to pass random drug and alcohol testing.
- Minimum NCEA Level 2 in Maths and English (or equivalent).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good numerical ability and confidence working with measurements and calculations.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel. Good communication and customer service skills.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
This is a full time position working 37.5 hours per week (from 8:30am - 5:00pm with an hour lunch). Applicants must be available to commence employment by 29 June, with an earlier start date of 22 June preferred.
