  • About Us

Bleeker & Weith Engineering is a well-established, locally owned South Canterbury engineering business with a strong reputation for quality fabrication, installation, maintenance, and project work across industrial and commercial environments.

With a team of approximately 30 engineers and tradespeople, we are known for practical problem-solving, strong workmanship, and a professional but down-to-earth culture. Our work is varied, technically interesting, and supported by experienced leadership, organised systems, and a strong workflow structure.

We are currently looking for a qualified Engineering Tradesperson to join our team in a permanent, full-time position.

    About the Role

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of workshop, project, shutdown, and site-based work rather than repetitive production-only environments. We're looking for someone practical, reliable, and motivated who takes pride in producing quality work and contributing positively to a strong team culture.

You'll be involved in a wide range of workshop and site-based engineering work, including:
    • General engineering, fabrication, installation, and maintenance work
    • Workshop and site-based project work across industrial and commercial environments
    • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
    • Stainless, pipework, structural, and general fabrication work depending on project requirements
    • Shutdown and project installation work as required
    • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and safe work practices
    • Working independently and as part of wider project teams
    • Representing Bleeker & Weith professionally on client sites
    About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
    • A trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, Fitting & Turning, or similar
    • Strong practical fabrication and engineering capability
    • Experience across both workshop and site environments
    • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Good understanding of engineering drawings and fabrication processes
    • Strong commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices
    • Full driver licence
    • Good communication and teamwork skills
    Preferred but not essential:
    • Stainless fabrication experience
    • Pipework experience
    • Shutdown/project work experience
    • TIG welding capability
    • Site installation experience
    In return, we can offer:
    • Permanent full-time employment with steady workflow
    • Competitive remuneration based on skills and experience
    • Overtime rates and additional hours available when required
    • Good employee benefits package including allowances and health insurance
    • Varied engineering work across workshop and site environments
    • Exposure to industrial, shutdown, and project-based work
    • A strong team of experienced tradespeople and practical leadership
    • Organised systems and structured workflow
    • Supportive team environment without excessive bureaucracy or micromanagement
    • Stable long-term opportunity with a business continuing to grow and invest in its people
If you're a qualified tradesperson looking for stable work, technical variety, and a team that values quality workmanship and good people, we'd like to hear from you.
