    Woodward's Firewood is a locally owned and operated Taranaki business supplying quality firewood and animal bedding across the region. Based in the New Plymouth District, we're known for our reliable service, hardworking attitude, and strong team culture. From processing and bagging firewood to delivering loads to customers throughout Taranaki, we take pride in keeping homes warm year-round.

    The Role in a Nutshell

    We're looking for a practical, reliable Firewood Yard Hand who enjoys physical work, operating machinery, and being part of a busy yard environment.

    One minute you could be running a log splitter or loader, the next you'll be stacking wood, loading customer trailers, or heading out on a local delivery run. No two days are exactly the same, and we need someone who's happy to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in wherever needed.

    This role combines machinery operation, truck driving, customer service, and good old-fashioned hard work to help keep the yard running smoothly day to day.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Operate Class 2 delivery trucks safely across the region
    • Run chainsaws, log splitters, loaders, and other yard machinery
    • Process, stack, sort, and bag firewood
    • Load delivery trucks and customer trailers
    • Help keep the yard clean, tidy, and safe
    • Provide friendly service to customers
    What We're Looking For

    Required:
    • Current New Zealand Class 2 driver's licence with a clean record
    • Chainsaw unit standards 6916 & 6917
    • Proven chainsaw experience in a commercial environment
    • Physically fit and capable of repetitive lifting up to 25kg
    • Strong work ethic and willingness to get stuck in
    Preferred But Not Essential:
    • Forklift endorsement with current OSH certificate
    • WTR endorsement
    • Workplace First Aid certificate
    • Good knowledge of the Taranaki road network

    Safety is important to us. PPE is supplied, and successful applicants must pass pre-employment and random drug & alcohol testing.

    Working hours are Monday to Friday: 8:00am - 4:30pm with some Saturday work: 9:00am - 1:00pm.
