Harbour Cancer & Wellness require an experienced Health Care Assistant to join their team.
Working closely with the nursing team, this role supports patients and their families attending our Day Stay Unit. We are looking for a friendly, calm, and compassionate Healthcare Assistant who helps maintain a welcoming, well‑organised environment and provides attentive patient support.
The role includes stock management, ordering, and equipment procurement, and requires flexibility, good common sense, and a tidy, organised approach.
Our ideal candidate will have or be:- Experience in a health care setting with experience in a similar role
- Health Care Assistant Level 3 qualification or NZ Certificate in Health and Well-being (Advanced Support) Level 4
- Warm and friendly manner with a caring nature
- Able to communicate well with patients and team
- Good English verbal and written communication
- The ability to work under pressure and to timelines
- An eagerness to help out where necessary
- Basic computer literacy
Duties include but are not limited to:- Work under the direction of the registered nursing team
- Provide assistance to patients entering and leaving our unit
- Provide patients and their support people with food and beverages
- Attend to patients' support needs during treatment
- Maintain stock levels of consumables
- Maintain service and kitchen areas
- Ordering patient food and preparation of food
- Cover reception and front of house duties as required
- Administrative duties as required
