About the Role
Cunningham Construction is looking for a meticulous Estimator with strong technical proficiency to join our Nelson-based team.
This role is critical in ensuring our clients receive clear, professional, and accurate estimations for both high-end renovations and new builds.
You will work closely with our Managing Director to translate site visits into comprehensive construction estimates. This is a flexible, part-time position designed for someone who takes pride in "getting the numbers right" and enjoys flexibility of working from home or the office.
Key Responsibilities:
Site Assessments: Attend initial site visits across the Nelson region alongside the Managing Director to understand the scope of work.
Take-offs & Quantities: Accurately calculate labour hours for specific tasks and identify all materials and quantities required for the project.
Sub-contractor Liaison: Reach out to our trusted network of sub-contractors to secure competitive and accurate quotes.
Reporting: Compile detailed preliminary budget breakdowns and final formal quotes.
Professional Presentation: Prepare and present final quotes in a professional paper format, ensuring they are clear, approachable, and easy for clients to understand.
Requirements & Skills:
Industry Knowledge: A solid understanding of the New Zealand building process, specifically for residential renovations and new builds.
Attention to Detail: Meticulous by nature with a sharp eye for detail to ensure no cost is overlooked.
Tech-Savvy: Highly capable with technology and digital estimating tools to streamline the budgeting process.
Communication: Adaptable to client needs.
Local Presence: Must be based in Nelson to attend site visits and team meetings as required.
