Coating Supplies Invercargill, part of Smits Group, is looking for a reliable and detail-focused Storeperson to support the smooth day-to-day running of our warehouse and retail store.
This is a hands-on, varied role involving warehouse operations, customer service, and general store support. You'll play a key part in ensuring orders are processed accurately, stock is well managed, and customers receive a high level of service.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week), with flexibility required to provide additional cover during staff leave or busy periods.
What You'll Be Doing
Warehouse & Store Operations:- Process inwards and outwards goods accurately and efficiently
- Pick, pack, and dispatch customer orders
- Receive deliveries, check stock, and put away goods correctly
- Assist with loading and unloading deliveries
- Support general warehouse and store duties as required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
Customer Service & Sales Support:- Serve and assist both trade and retail customers in-store
- Process customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Take and manage phone orders
- Process Tradesaver and other customer orders
- Provide a friendly, professional customer experience
Inventory & Stock Control:- Assist with stock takes and cycle counts
- Help maintain accurate stock levels and records
- Report stock discrepancies, damage, or shortages
- Ensure stock is stored safely and correctly
Administration Support:- Complete basic administrative tasks as required
- Use simple computer systems for order processing and stock control
- Maintain accurate records where required
Health & Safety:- Follow all Smits Group health and safety procedures
- Practice safe manual handling (including lifting up to 20kg)
- Handle and store products safely, including hazardous goods (training provided)
- Report hazards, incidents, and near misses promptly
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who is reliable, practical, and takes pride in accuracy and good service. You'll enjoy working in a busy, hands-on environment and be comfortable balancing warehouse tasks with customer interaction.
You will ideally have:- Previous experience in warehousing, retail, or customer service
- Basic computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 20kg
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
You'll also be:- A team player who can work independently when needed
- Flexible and willing to assist with additional hours when required
- Committed to maintaining a safe and tidy work environment
