Ferrier Industrial Limited is an Auckland-based engineering and fabrication business operating from East Tamaki. We deliver quality welding and steel fabrication work for a wide range of clients and pride ourselves on our skilled, close-knit workshop team and commitment to quality workmanship and safety.
We are currently seeking 1-2 experienced Welder / Fabricators to join our workshop team.
About the Role
This is a hands-on, full-time permanent position working within a team of experienced engineering and fabrication staff. You will be involved in:- MIG, TIG and arc welding to a high standard
- Fabricating, assembling and finishing steel components
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications
- Measuring, cutting, grinding, drilling and preparing materials
- Checking completed work to ensure quality and accuracy
- Following health and safety procedures at all times
- Working overtime when required to meet project deadlines
One of these positions may suit a candidate with previous team leader or leading hand experience who can assist with workflow coordination and mentoring other staff.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:- Proven welding and fabrication experience gained in New Zealand or the Philippines
- Strong MIG, TIG and/or arc welding skills
- The ability to read and work from engineering drawings and specifications
- Fluent spoken Filipino (Tagalog) - essential for communication within our existing workshop team
- Good English communication skills
- A strong work ethic with excellent attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A reasonable level of physical fitness for workshop duties
- The ability to pass pre-employment drug and alcohol testing and participate in random workplace testing
Desirable Skills:- Previous team leader, leading hand or supervisory experience
- General engineering workshop experience
- Recognised welding or engineering trade qualification
- Current NZ driver licence
