  • Run day-to-day workshop operations
  • Join the team at The Wrangler NZ - Based in Whakatane

  • The Wrangler is a family owned and operated company designing and manufacturing awesome innovative animal handling products for the dairy industry.

We're looking for a hands-on Working Foreman to lead our workshop team in Whakatane. This is a key role for a qualified tradesperson who can lead from the front - someone who's just as comfortable on the tools as they are running the floor.

You'll be responsible for keeping the workshop running smoothly day-to-day, driving productivity, and making sure jobs are delivered on time and to a high standard.

    About the role:

This is a senior, hands-on position where you'll be actively involved in fabrication and manufacturing while coordinating the workflow of a small team. You'll work closely with the business owners to keep production on track and continuously improve how things are done.

    What you'll be doing:
    • Welding, fabrication, machining, assembly, and finishing
    • Leading from the front on the workshop floor
    • Supervising staff and allocating daily work
    • Managing workflow to keep jobs moving efficiently
    • Ensuring all work meets quality standards and specs
    • Planning production and meeting delivery deadlines
    • Identifying and resolving bottlenecks quickly
    • Maintaining a strong focus on health & safety
    • Monitoring materials and minimising waste
    • Supporting continuous improvement across the workshop
    What we're looking for:

You're a trade-qualified Fitter Welder or Fitter Turner (or equivalent experience) who takes pride in your work and knows how to get the best out of a team. You're organised, practical, and not afraid to roll your sleeves up.

    You'll need to demonstrate:
    • Strong fabrication and welding skills
    • Ability to read and interpret drawings
    • Proven experience leading or supervising a team
    • Good planning and time management skills
    • Practical problem solver who takes initiative
    • Reliable, hands-on, and leads by example
    • Focused on quality, efficiency, and getting jobs done right
    What you'll get:

We're a solid, down-to-earth business where you can make a real impact. You'll have the backing of the owners, a steady workflow, and the chance to shape how the workshop runs.

    You'll also enjoy:
    • Key leadership role in a growing NZ business
    • Hands-on, varied work - not stuck behind a desk
    • Supportive environment with direct access to owners
    • Opportunity to improve systems and make your mark
    • Involvement in projects across NZ (including field days)
    Hours:
    • 7:30am - 4:00pm, Monday to Friday (with overtime as required)
If you're a capable tradesperson ready to step up or an experienced foreman looking for a role where you can lead from the front, we'd like to hear from you.
