Oasis Engineering (part of the global Elaflex HIBY Group based in Germany) is a leading manufacturer of valve products for New Zealand & Export markets. We design and develop our own range of products for the Dairy, Gas & Hydrogen markets. Our continuous improvement philosophy is to improve our people, products, services, systems and procedures regularly.
We are now seeking a motivated and capable Product Development Engineer to join our Tauranga-based team and help shape the future of our product range.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing innovative engineered products, supporting Oasis in staying relevant across current and emerging markets. You will take ownership of projects from concept through to production, working collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, test, and release new products in line with the Oasis product development process
- Coordinate prototype manufacturing (internal and external suppliers)
- Lead and oversee product development projects and project teams
- Undertake and support type testing, including working with third-party notified bodies
- Conduct R&D activities and prototype testing
- Produce comprehensive product documentation (design specifications, instructions, technical information)
- Create and modify 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD
- Support the introduction of new products into manufacturing, including jig design and assembly processes (Poka Yoke)
- Interpret and apply relevant standards, making recommendations where required
- Investigate product issues, including testing and reporting (occasional site visits may be required)
- Provide technical support to the wider team
- Travel domestically and internationally as required to engage with suppliers and customers
About You:- Proven ability to design and develop engineered products
- Strong project management and self-management skills
- Proficient in CAD/CAM and Microsoft Office tools
- Methodical approach, particularly in troubleshooting and problem-solving
- High attention to detail with strong record-keeping skills
- Good understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes
- Personable and able to work collaboratively across teams
- Willingness to travel as required
