Are you working or studying towards becoming a Power Technician? Are you looking for an opportunity to further your skills within a dynamic team and work that keeps you interested?
Empowered Technical Services has an opportunity for a Junior / Trainee Power Technician to join our team and work alongside experienced senior power technicians with industry leading equipment.
Empowered provides services to a broad range of clients across the power generation, transmission, distribution, mining and MV industrial sector in New Zealand.
Empowered is looking for a candidate who can demonstrate practical knowledge within the HV industry and who is looking to develop skills within primary plant and secondary systems.
What we need from you:- Assist our team with Commissioning, testing and maintaining HV systems and schemes
- Be able to read and interpret electrical drawings
- Have experience in troubleshooting and fault finding issues
- Assist and develop skills in testing Primary Plant such as - CTs, VTs, Transformers, Circuit Breakers, MV Cables and Switchboards
- Assist and develop skills in testing Secondary Systems such as - DC Systems, Scada, Protection relays and Protection Schemes
Experience, skills and qualifications:- Must hold EWRB Electrical Practicing License.
- Studying towards or holds Power Technician qualification or Diploma in Power Systems.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in relevant MV/HV industry.
- HV switching experience desirable.
- Knowledge of appropriate AS/NZS, international Standards and industry practices.
- Ability to promote a high standard of safety, professionalism and effective communication.
- Some experience in using the Omicron suite of equipment for primary and secondary system testing experience desirable.
- Flexibility to be able to work away around New Zealand.
