Coating Supplies, part of the Smits Group, is looking for a motivated Technical Sales Representative to support and grow our customer base across the Southland and Otago regions.

This role offers the opportunity to be based in either Southland or Otago, and we are open to supporting relocation for the right person.

If you have experience in technical sales, enjoy working closely with customers, and want to represent high-quality products backed by a trusted industry name, we'd love to hear from you.

Experience in Automotive Refinish or Industrial Coatings is advantageous but not essential - we provide industry-specific training to help you succeed.

About the Role

As the Technical Sales Representative for the region, you will manage and grow relationships with customers in the Automotive Refinish and Industrial Coatings trades.

Your focus will be on delivering excellent service, providing technical product advice, and identifying opportunities to grow sales across the territory.

Key responsibilities include:

Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers
Providing technical advice and product solutions
Growing sales within an established customer base
Identifying and developing new business opportunities
Representing the business with professionalism and reliability
Working independently to manage your regional territory

About You

We are looking for someone who enjoys working with customers and solving problems.

You might already have experience in automotive refinish, coatings, or related trades, but we are also very open to candidates with technical sales experience in other industries.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

Experience in technical sales or account management
Strong relationship-building and communication skills
A self-motivated and organised approach to managing your territory
The ability to understand technical products and recommend solutions
A full driver's licence
Automotive Refinish or Industrial Coatings experience (desirable)
Trade or hands-on technical background (desirable)
