About Us
Comber and Comber is a leading Christchurch interior design studio delivering high-quality, end-to-end design solutions across residential interiors, window treatments, retail showroom styling, and home staging.
Our business operates across multiple specialist divisions - Design It, Drape It, Stage It, Shop It, and View It - giving interns rare exposure to the full lifecycle of interior projects. This is more than an internship - it's an opportunity to build real industry experience within a fast-paced, creative, and commercially focused design studio.
About the Roles
As an Intern, you will gain hands-on experience across studio operations while supporting live client projects. Although each internship has a focus area, all roles collaborate across the wider business.

- Attend client meetings and take structured notes

- Compile FF&E schedules
- Coordinate samples, specifications, and furniture procurement
Window Treatments Intern:- Assist with measuring and quoting preparation
- Support product and fabric selections
- Liaise with suppliers regarding availability and lead times
- Prepare client proposals and presentation packs
- Assist with installation coordination and quality checks
Home Staging Intern:- Assist with staging plans and furniture selection
- Support delivery, placement, and styling of staged homes
- Maintain staging inventory and accessories
- Assist with pack-downs and condition reporting
Other key responsibilities for all Interns:- Greet clients and assist with showroom enquiries
- Maintain visual merchandising standards
- Assist with stock control and inventory
- Support warehouse operations including inward/outward goods
- Provide general project and administrative support
What We're Looking For:- Qualification in Interior Design essential (e.g. Diploma in Interior Design)
- Strong understanding of colour, scale, and spatial planning
- Experience with design software such as:
- Archicad - SketchUp / AutoCAD - Adobe Creative Suite - Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- Professional client-facing communication skills
- Commercial awareness and time management ability
- Hands-on, proactive attitude
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced studio
- Full Driver's Licence required
- Experience or willingness to learn; Archicad, Canva, Programa, CIN7, Windoware, Monday, and Workflow Max.
We're looking for someone authentic who combines creative flair with commercial drive - a self-starter wanting to build a genuine career in the design industry, not simply complete an internship. You'll be adaptable, positive, and excited to contribute wherever needed across the business.
Why Join Comber and Comber?:- Learn directly from experienced industry professionals
- Exposure to real client projects from concept to completion
- Work within a respected, established design practice
- Family-run business with a passionate and supportive team
- Broad industry experience across design, retail, staging & installations
- A strong addition to your professional CV
- Fun, collaborative studio culture
If you're ready to kick-start your interior design career and gain hands-on experience within a dynamic Christchurch studio, we'd love to hear from you.
