Benchmark Construction is a reputable and established civil construction company with a workforce of approximately 65 employees and over 40 years of industry experience. Specialising in earthworks, drainage, road construction, and surfacing, our operations span across Central Otago and the Queenstown Lakes District.
With strong forward workloads secured, we are looking to grow our Surfacing Department, which delivers high-quality pavement construction and asphalt works across a wide range of civil and land development projects.
We are seeking a motivated Asphalt Worker to join our team. While experience in asphalt is preferred, it is not essential - a positive attitude and willingness to learn new skills are what matter most.

About the role:
Working within our Surfacing Team, you will assist with driveways and pavement construction, asphalt paving and hand lay on a range of different projects throughout the region.
Duties may include:- Assisting with asphalt placement and finishing
- Raking, levelling, and compacting asphalt
- Pavement preparation and reinstatement works
- Operating small tools and equipment
- Supporting paving crews and machine operators
- Maintaining safe and tidy worksites
Full training and support will be provided for the right applicant.
Our successful applicant will have:- Civil construction or asphalt experience preferred (but not required)
- Willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Class 1 Full Driver Licence (WTR or additional classes advantageous)
- Good level of physical fitness
- Ability to work well within a team
- Commitment to quality workmanship and health & safety
