Electrotest is New Zealand's leading supplier of Test and Measurement and Power Protection Equipment to a broad spectrum of markets throughout New Zealand.
About the Role
We are seeking a technically capable and motivated Electrical Engineer or Electrical Technician to join our Auckland-based team. This is a diverse and hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys applying their electrical knowledge across a wide range of disciplines including power protection, UPS systems, high voltage, and radio frequency technologies.
You will play a key role in supporting technical operations, managing projects, and providing specialist expertise across our product and service offering. This position is primarily office-based on the North Shore, with opportunities for national and international travel, including supplier training.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for:- Providing technical support and advice to the sales team during pre-sales activities
- Identifying, preparing, and submitting technical tenders and quotations
- Delivering technical support across our full product range
- Managing calibration, servicing, and maintenance of equipment including UPS, high voltage, radio frequency, and power systems
- Acting as the technical liaison with international suppliers and partners
- Managing technical aspects of projects, particularly UPS and power-protection systems
- Configuring and programming equipment for customer projects
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in collaboration with sales engineers
- Developing and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and service records
- Overseeing and managing projects under your responsibility to successful completion
This role will work closely with our Service Technician and offers future leadership opportunities as the team grows.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:- A tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- Alternatively, a recognised electrical trade qualification or licence
- Strong technical aptitude and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and disciplines
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage projects effectively
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- A self-motivated, proactive, and professional approach

The position is Auckland based on the North Shore and there will be a national and international travel component to the job including international training. The job is office-based. Hours will be our normal office hours but some flexibility is required for international communications and other project commitments.
