We are seeking a full-time, experienced Nursery Worker to join our established and growing nursery operation in Prebbleton.
This role suits someone with formal horticulture training, strong practical nursery skills, and the confidence to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment. You will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the nursery, plant production, sales, and overall site maintenance.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:- Organising plants contract orders/ordering plants
- Compiling and updating plant stock list, updating plant identification and labelling/pricing plants
- Plant sales to the public/architects/landscapers/businesses including visiting local architects/landscapers as time allows
- Potting up of trees and shrubs
- Irrigation maintenance
- Freighting/dispatch - Loading and unloading deliveries
- Plant maintenance including pruning, spraying, weeding, fertilising, and staking
- Picking up trees/shrubs etc that may have fallen over in the wind
- Motorbike and forklift maintenance
- Organising casual staff
- Responsible for overall Nursery maintenance
About You:
You have solid horticultural knowledge and hands-on nursery experience, with the ability to work confidently across a wide range of tasks. You are comfortable engaging with customers and industry professionals such as architects and landscapers, and you take pride in delivering a high standard of plant care and nursery presentation. Well organised and proactive, you can prioritise workloads, work efficiently both independently and as part of a team, and contribute positively to a well-run nursery environment. You are reliable, practical, and motivated, with a genuine commitment to maintaining quality, safety, and professionalism in your work.
Requirements:- Horticulture qualification - minimum Level 3 (essential)
- Strong practical nursery and plant care knowledge
- Hortbase knowledge highly regarded
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual work
- Reliable, organised, and proactive
- Full NZ driver licence preferred
- Forklift licence an advantage
