Plucks Engineering is a family-owned agricultural engineering business that's been part of Mid Canterbury since 1966. From our workshop on SH1 in Rakaia, we design, build, install and service robust farm machinery - especially heavy water‑ballast land rollers and fully‑engineered dairy effluent systems trusted by farmers across New Zealand and exported to markets like Australia, Brazil, Chile, the UK, and the UAE.

    Our values:
    • Craftsmanship - We take pride in quality workmanship and getting it right the first time.
    • Farmer‑first service - Practical solutions, courteous support, and prompt delivery that keep our customers moving.
    • Safety & care - A strong health & safety culture and a clean, well‑organised, LEAN workshop.
    • Community - proud supporters of local organisations and events; we believe in doing our bit for the district.

Want to make an impact in Mid Canterbury? Join a tight‑knit team building the gear farmers rely on - day in, day out.

As a Senior Welder / Fabricator, you'll fabricate and assemble new equipment in our Rakaia workshop and, from time to time, head out for field repairs and maintenance. You'll work across steel fabrication and welding, contributing to the production of proven agricultural machinery - from heavy land rollers to components within dairy effluent systems.

This is a full‑time, on‑site role in Rakaia. A valid driver's license is required.

    You'll bring:
    • Strong mechanical aptitude, excellent welding skills, and confidence reading technical drawings
    • Solid experience in steel welding/fabrication and repair; agricultural machinery experience is an advantage
    • Full driver's license (forklift endorsement a plus)
    • Physical fitness and the ability to handle heavy components safely
    • Flexibility to work extra hours when needed to get the job done
    • Clear communication and a team‑first mindset
    We offer:
    • Competitive wages with overtime rates
    • Personal growth and advancement opportunities in a LEAN, safety‑focused environment
    • A stable, supportive team with genuine pride in the quality of what we build for New Zealand farmers
