    • Sonoco is a global provider of consumer packaging, industrial products, protective packaging, and packaging supply chain services. Our Christchurch plant specialises in paper converting, including tubes and cores, counter reels, and sheeting, and is a great place to build a long-term career.

    We are seeking an experienced Machine Operator to join our team at our Wigram manufacturing site. This is a key role in the future of our plant, with a strong focus on machine setting and operating our main production equipment. You will be reliable, safety-focused, and demonstrate a proven eye for detail, as product quality is critical to our operation.

    Teamwork is essential in this role, and you will work closely with others to ensure smooth, efficient production. Experience in a manufacturing or factory environment is preferred, and strong technical capability with mechanical aptitude will be highly regarded.

    In this role you will be responsible for:
    • Machine operation; ensuring that our product is made to the correct specifications and within the required timeframes
    • Machine setting and operation is required
    • Replenishing materials
    • Following standard operating procedures
    • Checking for quality
    About you:
    • Proven experience as a Machine Operator or in a similar manufacturing role
    • Forklift licence (required)
    • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
    • Reliable with an exceptional work ethic
    • Able to provide supporting work references
