  • Ireland Engineering Solutions Ltd. in Oamaru has a long history in the North Otago region of providing engineering services to farmers, contractors, local industry and residents. Our workshop is attached to the TradeZone store, supplying a wide range of engineering and trade products including fastenings, safety gear, agricultural parts, tools - and everything through to toilet paper. Working together, we have access to a large network of suppliers and trade partners to help our customers find the right solution. You'll enjoy the variety this opportunity provides.

    We are also proud to be authorised Husqvarna agents, and this has become a significant and growing part of our business. This role will play a key part in sourcing Husqvarna parts, selling new Husqvarna products, and supporting our servicing team to ensure customers receive outstanding service.

    About the role

    This is a hands-on, varied position that combines retail sales, technical product support, and coordination with our workshop and servicing team. At times the role can be fast-paced and busy, while at other times it requires initiative and self-motivation to keep things moving.

    Our ideal candidate will have:
    • A technical mindset, ideally with a trade background (engineering, automotive, mechanical or similar preferred)
    • Strong customer service skills and a genuine desire to help customers
    • Good computer skills and confidence working with systems
    • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
    • A strong work ethic and the ability to stay productive during both busy and quieter periods
    • Previous retail experience or product knowledge is an advantage, but full training will be provided for the right person
    You will also need to demonstrate:
    • A high standard of personal presentation; reliable, professional and punctual
    • Initiative and the ability to work independently
    • Good time management and organisational skills
    • Commitment to health and safety
    • A team-player attitude
    Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
    • Serving in-store customers and actively promoting sales
    • Selling Husqvarna products and sourcing parts
    • Providing technical advice to customers and other staff
    • Supporting the servicing team with parts and product information
    • Ongoing product knowledge learning
    • Answering incoming phone calls
    • Completing customer orders and paperwork accurately
    • Ensuring Infusion data is accurate
    • Ordering, merchandising, stocktake and maintaining store presentation
    This is a full-time position, working Monday to Friday with Saturday mornings on a rostered basis. A competitive hourly rate is on offer, aligned with the experience and knowledge you bring to the role.
