Please Quote Reference Number 14945
  • Lead commercial joinery production & installation projects
  • Hands-on role for an experienced, trade-qualified joiner
  • Join the growing team at Colourform Joinery in Te Rapa

  • For over 20 years Colourform Joinery has crafted the interiors of hundreds of commercial and industrial buildings, hospitality premises, hospitals, schools and office buildings across the Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Auckland.

We manage most of the production phases in our factory, cutting on our CNC, edging, assembling and finishing in our in-house painting facility and then our installation team ensures our work is skilfully installed on the customer site.

We're now seeking an experienced Production Manager to lead our factory and installation operations and play a key role in delivering high-quality commercial joinery projects.

    About the Role

Reporting directly to the Company Director/Owner, this is a hands-on leadership role managing the manufacturing and installation of commercial interior joinery and cabinetry.

    You will:
    • Lead and manage our factory and installation team (8-10 people)
    • Oversee manufacturing and installation programmes for large commercial projects
    • Liaise daily with construction companies, site managers and shop-fitting clients
    • Attend construction sites several times per week for site measures, coordination and problem-solving
    • Work through architectural and construction plans with our detailers and draughtspeople
    • Make technical decisions and confidently discuss design limitations, changes and solutions with clients and architects
    • Use NZ construction portals and online systems for communication and documentation
    • Champion Health & Safety across factory and site operations
This is a production-focused role - estimating, quoting and drawing are handled by other team members.

    About You

We're looking for a highly skilled joiner who can lead from the front and confidently manage complex commercial work.

    You will need:
    • Trade qualification as a joiner (NZ or overseas apprenticeship accepted)
    • Experience working in the New Zealand construction environment
    • Proven commercial joinery experience (schools, hospitals, shop fitting, factories, commercial buildings)
    • Strong ability to interpret architectural and construction drawings
    • Confidence visualising and building complex joinery (feature walls, curved joinery, architectural details)
    • Excellent communication skills for customer-facing technical discussions
    • Computer literacy and experience using construction portals or similar industry systems
    • Full NZ driver's licence and experience towing a trailer
    • The ability to lead, motivate and coordinate a skilled team
    • To be practical, solutions-focused and calm under pressure
    • Comfortable pushing back professionally when designs aren't technically feasible
    • Enjoy being busy - on the phone, on-site, and in the factory
    About Us:

In return for your hard work and commitment, we can offer:
    • Full-time role: Monday to Friday, 6:30am-4/5pm (flexible where needed)
    • Start Date - Late February 2026
    • Early Friday finish (typically around 2pm)
    • No regular weekend work (only 1-2 times per year)
    • 3-week Christmas shutdown annually
    • Company van or ute (sign-written) and fully funded work phone
    • Onsite parking
    • Performance-based bonus structure
    • Mid-sized, family-owned business with owners working hands-on day to day
    • Stable team environment - many of our employees have been with us long term
    • Strong pipeline of commercial projects
    • Ongoing investment in plant and technology, including CNC automation
    • Supportive, experienced team and well-established systems
