We are seeking a warm, professional, and enthusiastic Qualified ECE Head Teacher to join our friendly, community focused centre in beautiful Twizel, Mackenzie. This is a fixed term role for 6 months, working 35-40 hours per week, ideal for someone who enjoys stepping into a leadership role and supporting a dedicated teaching team.
About Us
Twizel Early Learning Centre is a well established, community based service providing nurturing, play based education for up to 39 tamariki aged 3 months to 6 years. Our team is supportive, collaborative, and passionate about creating meaningful learning experiences.
About the Role
As our Head Teacher (maternity cover), you'll guide the daily programme, support kaiako, and ensure a warm, safe, high quality learning environment. You'll bring strong knowledge of Te Whāriki, confident leadership, and a genuine commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and bicultural practice.

- Calm, empathetic leadership and confidence mentoring others
- Sound knowledge of ECE regulations and high quality practice
- The ability to build positive relationships with whānau and our wider community
