Food Technician / Kitchen Assistant - Tamatea High School
|
Tamatea High School is seeking a reliable, hands-on Food Technician / Kitchen Assistant to support the smooth running of our school kitchen and Food & Nutrition spaces. This role is ideal for someone organised, practical, and happy working behind the scenes to help classes and events run on time.
In this role you will:- Support Food & Nutrition teaching by ensuring ingredients, equipment, and workstations are prepared and ready for learning
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised kitchen environment, following food safety and health and safety expectations
- Assist with managing pantry, fridge, freezer, and storage areas so they are well stocked, clearly labelled, and easy to use
- Provide general support for classes and school events, including simple food preparation, set-up and pack-down as required
- Contribute to a positive, welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors in our Food & Nutrition spaces
We are looking for someone who is:- Reliable, punctual, and self-managing
- Comfortable in a busy, practical kitchen and classroom environment
- Friendly and professional with staff, students, and visitors
- Physically able to lift, carry, and be on their feet regularly
- Willing to complete basic food safety training if needed
Desirable: Experience in kitchens, hospitality, catering, or schools; a full NZ driver licence; basic first aid.
Hours: 10 hours per week, term time only.
Remuneration: Is in line with the Support Staff in Schools Collective Agreement (or applicable agreement), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Police vetting is required under the Children's Act 2014.
