  • Workshop Foreman / Hands-on Workshop Supervisor
  • Great culture + Monday - Friday hours
  • Busy modern large-scale workshop

  • Are you a natural leader who thrives in both management and hands-on technical work?

We're seeking an experienced Workshop Foreman to step into a pivotal leadership position within our established team, following the departure of our long-serving foreman after 20 years of dedicated service.

This role is an even 50/50 split between leadership and hands-on technical work - perfect for someone who leads by example, drives production excellence, and is passionate about continuous improvement.

    What You'll Be Doing

As Workshop Foreman, you'll oversee the daily operations of our busy workshop - ensuring production targets, quality standards, and safety protocols are consistently met.

    You'll be responsible for:
    • Team Leadership:
      - Managing and mentoring four key teams - Fabrication, Tow Bars, Fitting Bays, and Final Assembly.
    • Production & Efficiency:
      - Implementing and improving LEAN processes and Kanban systems.
      - Driving 100% DIFOTIS (Delivery In Full On Time In Specification).
      - Benchmarking production data for capacity and efficiency improvements.
    • Quality Assurance:
      - Championing Total Quality Management (TQM) principles.
      - Conducting visual welding inspections and maintaining high workmanship standards.
    • Planning & Scheduling:
      - Working closely with the Production Manager on daily and weekly planning.
    • Health & Safety:
      - Maintaining a strong safety culture and ensuring compliance with all H&S policies and procedures.
    What We're Looking For

You're an experienced foreman or supervisor with deep technical knowledge and proven leadership skills. You enjoy working on the tools as much as leading a team - and you're passionate about quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

    Essential:
    • Proven experience in a supervisory or management role within an engineering, automotive, or fabrication environment.
    • Strong technical background in vehicle body building, fabrication, or heavy machinery.
    • Demonstrated success with LEAN, Kanban, and TQM systems.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Proactive problem-solver with a continuous improvement mindset.
    • Solid understanding of Health & Safety in a manufacturing environment.
    Highly Desirable:
    • Experience in an ISO 9001-certified environment.
    • Relevant trade qualification (e.g., heavy fabrication or mechanical engineering).
    Who You Are:
    • A "working manager" who's hands-on and leads from the front.
    • Detail-oriented, with a focus on quality and meeting deadlines (DIFOTIS).
    • A clear, confident communicator who can bridge the gap between the shop floor and management.
    • Resilient and adaptable, capable of leading a long-standing team through ongoing improvement.
    Why Join Us:
    • Opportunity to make a lasting impact in a stable, long-established company.
    • Supportive team culture with strong retention and commitment to excellence.
    • Leadership role with autonomy and clear pathways for long-term success.
