  • Horticulture background highly regarded

  • Ready to work outdoors in one of New Zealand's most breathtaking regions? NZ Cherry Corp and Central Otago Nets are leading the way in crop protection, offering orchard owners cutting-edge solutions to keep their cherry crops safe from frost, pests, and the unpredictable weather. Based in Cromwell, we're on a mission to keep orchards flourishing - and we need talented individuals like you to help make it happen!

We're currently looking for a hard working and reliable Netting Installation Technician to join our team for an immediate start.

We have a full time fixed term position available with the potential for future work once harvest season is finished. Working hours are between 7:00am - 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

Reporting to our Orchard Manager, duties include setting up orchard nets, wire joining, threading, tensioning wires and working at heights. This will involve:
    • Helping read and interpret blueprints and measurements to design and install top-notch netting systems
    • Preparing, organising, and selecting materials to ensure smooth, efficient installations
    • Getting the orchard ready for action with precise and careful ground preparation
    • Handling hand tools, power tools, and equipment like a seasoned professional (don't worry, full training provided!)
    • Working at heights, operating machinery like the MAXI 640 Hydralada (we'll train you to be a pro!)
    • Making sure everyone stays safe by keeping your worksite clean, organised, and accident-free
This role is perfect if you're someone who loves variety - one day, you're preparing the site, the next you're installing nets, and the day after that, you're learning how to operate heavy-duty machinery.

    About You:
    • Experience Counts: Ideally, you've got at least 2 years' experience or a tertiary degree, but a strong work ethic and positive attitude go a long way!
    • Changing Career: If you've worked in a physical or labour-intensive role, this could be the chance to explore another career
    • Fit for the Outdoors: You're in great physical shape and ready to get your hands dirty in the great outdoors
    • Tool Time: You're comfortable using tools and not afraid of a little height
    • Team Player: You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and bring a positive attitude every day
    • Health & Safety: You understand the importance of safety and follow protocols to a T
    • Driver's License: A valid NZ driver's license is a plus but not a dealbreaker
You'll work in a supportive, close-knit team, where your skills are valued and every day is different. Plus, you'll be doing all of this while soaking in the stunning Central Otago scenery.

It's not just a job - it's an opportunity to grow your skills, have an adventure, and make a real difference. If you're up for a challenge and want to be part of a team that's changing the game in crop protection, we want to hear from you!

At New Zealand Cherry Corp., we're not just growing cherries; we're cultivating a legacy of innovation and excellence. Why not join us? APPLY NOW through the online application form with a current CV and Cover Letter.
