  • Family owned and operated, Combined Freightlines specialise in the transportation of general freight predominately around the North Canterbury District. Our extensive, well maintained fleet allow us to cater for a wide range of freight and transport requirements.

    We're currently looking for an experienced Transport Planner to join our team in Fernside.

    You'll be responsible for the management of freight operations ensuring high levels of customer service and effective and proactive communication with drivers. Supporting and leading the driving team, you'll play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency of the business as well as being the primary point of contract for internal and external customers. As this is a diverse role, you will also be required to undertake general office and yard duties as required.

    To be considered for this position, you'll need to demonstrate:
    • A minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role
    • Knowledge of General Freight will be highly regarded (eg. weight restrictions / transport requirements)
    • Ability to communicate with both city and rural customers
    • Excellent planning skills and the ability to adapt to changes quickly and efficiently
    • Strong computer skills (experience with Transport Management Software - M2X highly regarded)
    • Motivation and able to work unsupervised (often sole charge)
    • Good geographical knowledge of the North Canterbury area an advantage
    • Good problem solving skills and attention to detail
    • A current Forklift Licence and DG Certificate
    • Basic First Aid Certificate
    • Class 2 Licence (highly regarded but not essential)
    This is a full time position working Monday to Friday (40-50 hours per week) and will require an early start, however we are negotiable and open to some mid-week afternoons off.

    We are anticipating a start date of 5th January 2026, however an earlier start date may be negotiated.
