  • Odyssey House Christchurch is seeking an energetic and compassionate Youth Worker to join our team in delivering services to rangatahi.

    Our programme integrates adventure-based learning and group work to support rangatahi affected by alcohol and drugs, mental health and related issues.

    In this role, you will:
    • Facilitate therapeutic outdoor experiences including tramping, camping, and group activities.
    • Support adventure-based therapy programmes promoting connection and coping skills
    • Work within strength-based and collaborative relationships with rangatahi, their whanau and colleagues
    • Manage the administration that comes with outdoor experiences
    To be successful, you will have:
    • Proven experience delivering therapeutic group sessions in natural or outdoor environments
    • Relevant qualifications in Social Work or Youth Work, Occupational Therapy, Outdoor Recreation or working towards this.
    • Experience working in the AOD, mental health and criminal justice sectors.
    • Ability to work in a manner that honours Te Tiriti O Waitangi.
    • An understanding and experience of working with trauma.
    • Ability to work overnight when off site e.g. tramping/camping
    • A clean and full driver's license
    • Ability to work 1 shift in week one, following week has the potential to work full weekend including overnight to enable adventure activities
