We're seeking an experienced Health & Safety Trainer based in Hawke's Bay to join our nationwide pool of contract trainers. With a large increase in work secured, this is a fantastic opportunity to deliver training that makes a real difference in workplaces across the region.
As a contract trainer, you'll deliver engaging and practical training across a wide range of health and safety programmes, with a specific focus on MEWP, Heights and Confined Space. You'll bring strong industry experience, professionalism, and the ability to connect with learners, ensuring they leave confident, competent, and safety-focused.
This is a flexible and rewarding role suited to passionate trainers who want to contribute to transforming New Zealand's workplace safety culture.
Here's what you'll be doing:- Training Delivery
- Deliver high-quality health and safety training to individuals and groups.
- Facilitate both practical and theory-based learning in line with NZQA and organisational standards.
- Deliver courses such as MEWP, Heights, Confined Space, Hazardous Substances, and Low-Level Scaffolding (where qualified). - Learner Support & Engagement
- Provide clear, approachable, and supportive instruction.
- Adapt training to suit learners from different industries and backgrounds.
- Uphold fairness, professionalism, and integrity throughout assessments. - Assessment & Administration
- Assess and record learner performance accurately.
- Complete evaluations, assessments, and compliance records promptly.
- Maintain NZQA and company requirements for assessment integrity.
What we're looking for:- Proven experience delivering health and safety training
- NZQA Unit Standard 4098 (Assessors) - must hold
- Must be able to deliver MEWP, Heights and Confined Space training
- Short notice availability for training assignments
- Background in a trade, construction, manufacturing, armed forces, or emergency services (beneficial)
- Ability to train across Hazardous Substances, and Low-Level Scaffolding (ideal)
- Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
- Passion for training and passing on knowledge
