    We are seeking a dedicated People and Compliance Lead to support both orchard operations and corporate teams.

    This role focuses on managing people processes, ensuring compliance with regulations, and providing professional executive support. This role is pivotal in ensuring our people processes run smoothly, compliance standards are upheld, and executive support is delivered with professionalism.     About the Role

    As the People and Compliance Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a positive, inclusive, and compliant workplace culture. You will lead the development and implementation of people strategies, ensure adherence to employment laws and internal policies, and act as a trusted advisor to leadership on all matters related to compliance and employee relations.

    We need a driven individual that shows initiative with a solution based attitude. Our successful candidate will be strong, able to manage conflict and make executive level decisions - this is a full time role.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with business goals and 12 month objectives
    • Lead initiatives to enhance employee engagement, performance, and retention
    • Oversee onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle processes.
    • Establish and maintain valuable business relationships including support of key client relationships, commercial partnerships, suppliers and both intra-company and inter-company relationships
    • Provide visible leadership for our companies values and help develop a positive work culture 
    • Represent the company at industry forums, conferences, and networking events.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws, regulations, and internal policies
    • Maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks
    • Lead internal audits and investigations related to HR compliance and workplace conduct
    • Manage risk related to employment practices, including grievances, disciplinary actions, and terminations
    • Coordinate compliance training and certifications for orchard and packhouse teams
    • Work effectively within a cross-functional team, contributing to both group dynamics and individual performance
    • Help assess and mitigate risks to the business
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning, safe and ethical behaviour
    • Monitor and report on HR metrics, compliance trends, and audit outcomes
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on data analysis
    • Oversee day-to-day operations ensuring smooth workflow and processes, reporting back to the General Manager weekly summary reports aswell as monthly board reports
    Required Skills, Qualifications and Experience:
    • Proven experience in HR, compliance, or administrative roles, preferably in the horticulture or agriculture sector.
    • Strong understanding of New Zealand employment and compliance regulations.
    • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
    • High level of discretion and confidentiality.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • A tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
    • Relevant certifications in HR or compliance are advantageous.
