At Civic Waste we're a long standing supplier of services to NZ cities. We contract to Councils and Private Companies for waste removal, road/hard surface sweeping, removing graffiti, water blasting, pavement cleaning and more!
We are currently looking for a dedicated Health & Safety Advisor to help drive a strong safety culture and ensure our people go home safe every day.
Reporting to the Group H&S Manager, you'll play a key role in maintaining and improving Civic's Health & Safety systems. You'll be the go-to person for H&S matters across our worksites - ensuring we meet legislative requirements, complete regular audits, investigate incidents, and support teams with practical safety advice and processes.
Based in Penrose, this role involves regular travel across New Zealand, supporting teams in various locations.
Key responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to:- Support the maintenance and improvement of H&S policies, procedures, and systems
- Conduct regular site audits and contribute to hazard identification and management
- Oversee incident reporting and investigations, ensuring timely corrective actions
- Assist in the delivery of H&S inductions, training, and internal communications
- Maintain the hazard and incident registers, and support compliance reporting
- Work closely with H&S reps and operational teams across multiple sites
- Contribute to ACC claims and rehabilitation coordination
To be considered for this position, you will need to demonstrate:- Minimum 4 years' experience in a Health & Safety role in an industrial or operational setting, ideally across multiple sites
- A working knowledge of New Zealand Health & Safety legislation and best practices
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities
- Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- A collaborative, down-to-earth approach and a genuine commitment to safety
