Odyssey House Christchurch and Purapura Whetu work together providing holistic health and wellbeing programmes within a multi disciplinary team to support tangata whaiora affected by problematic alcohol and other drug (AOD) use challenges.
We are looking for an Aftercare Worker to join our services based in Christchurch Men's Prison.
As an Aftercare Clinican, you will join a team of clinical, peer support and cultural staff, providing a multi disciplinary approach to working with our client group. You will juggle your time working with tangata whaiora inside the wire, and tangata whaiora and whanau outside the wire, so you will need to manage a varied and busy workload.
In this role, you will be:- Delivering education and therapeutic groups within the prison
- Facilitating aftercare conversations and groups both inside and outside the wire.
- Working one on one with clients and whanau where appropriate,
- Supporting a multi disciplinary team of clinical and cultural staff
To be successful in this role, you will:- Hold a qualification in Social Work, OT, Counselling or Mental Health and Addictions
- Hold a registration with an allied health profession such as Social Work, OT, NZAC, DAPAANZ etc (or working towards)
- Have good organisational skills
- Be a team player
- A good understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and knowledge of tikanga Māori /te reo
- A non judgmental approach to working with tangata whaiora
You will be part of a dedicated team working across prison sites, and a valued member of the wider Odyssey and Purapura Whetu whanau.
