    About the role

    We are currently looking for a Fabricator / Welder to join our team in Christchurch undertaking the initial assessment of shipping crates for damage and fault finding.

    This is a fixed term 3 month contract with the potential to lead to full time employment. An immediate start is available.

    Responsibilities include:
    • Recording the identification information from the shipping crate.
    • Recording the repairs that are required.
    • Some will require new hardware, hinges, locks, plastics, and some require the replacement of metal sections; the damaged section needs to be cut out, and a new part welded in.
    • Time and materials for the repair must be recorded
    Tools used include hand tools, a grinder, a bandsaw, and a MIG welder.

    About you

    To be considered for this position, you will need to have some basic experience and knowledge of mechanical engineering / welding and light fabrication. Full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

    You will also need to demonstrate:
    • A high level of workmanship
    • Attention to detail
    • A reliable work ethic
    • A good level of physical fitness
    • The ability to work in a team and unsupervised
    A current Forklift licence and prior experience would be highly regarded, however is not essential.
