Supporting clients’ journey to wellbeing

Aftercare is a key role in our men's residential service, working within the house and within the wider community to support our resident's journey to wellbeing.
Odyssey House Christchurch has been providing drug and alcohol treatment programmes for 40 years. Our Men's Residential programme offers a mix of clinical approaches including Māori and Pasifika concepts of health and wellbeing from a Therapeutic Community model.
As part of our aftercare team, you will build upon the proud history of Odyssey in Canterbury, and ensure Aftercare services meet clients' needs in the current world.
In this role, you will be working within the Outreach team:- Holding a caseload of Aftercare clients, which you will check in regularly with.
- Supporting the residential programme through facilitating groups to support reintegration and living skills
- Developing robust community supports, attending appointments with clients and linking them with other agencies.
- Having one on one and whānau meetings to ensure transition challenges are being overcome
- Build relationships with whaiora so that tailored aftercare plans can be created
To be successful, you will have:- A level 4 health qualification preferably endorsed in mental health and addictions or be willing to work towards this
- Skills in group delivery and individual interventions
- Excellent professional judgement and strong boundaries
- Excellent time management skills to juggle multiple tasks
- Ability to take initiative, be flexible and think out the box
- Full Drivers Licence
- A high level of understanding of tikanga Māori and its importance within this setting
This role is 36 hours per week, with the flexibility to support evening groups. This role is remunerated under the Support Worker pay equity rates.
