Allan Tongs Boatbuilders in the Wairau Valley, North Shore are looking for a Fibreglass Laminator - experience working with Gelcoat and polyester/vinylester is preferred.
We are looking for a star Laminator or Composite tech. We build the high quality, meticulously crafted Elite AT43 - a semi-custom, production built 3 cabin, 43' launch.

We are a family run business, started by Allan 40 years ago. Now run by Nigel and Ester Tongs with a team of skilled boatbuilders, cabinet makers and fibreglass technicians (and the workshop dog Pablo). We are centrally located in the Wairau Valley, on Auckland's North Shore. We pride ourselves on producing beautiful, well performing, practical, luxury 43' launches that are perfectly suited to New Zealand's style of boating.
About the role:
*To start ASAP*
You will be part of a team building Elite AT43s utilising your past experiences and skills as a Laminator. You will be working alongside skilled tradesmen and apprentices building Elite AT43's in Target Road, Wairau Park.
You must have at least 3 years experience working with Gelcoat and polyester/vinylester
We build each boat from scratch and you will get the satisfaction going for a cruise down the harbour on the finished product!
Essential skills:- Gelcoat and polyester/vinylester experience.
- Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- 3 + years industry experience
- Easy to work with
Also looking for: Entry-Level Role - No Experience Necessary
We're also looking for a second person to join the team - no previous experience required! If you're handy with tools, practical, and eager to learn a skilled trade, this could be the perfect opportunity to get your foot in the door in the marine industry.
