Foton New Zealand is the importer/distributor of Foton trucks in New Zealand and is based in Hamilton.
Foton was founded in 1996 (headquartered in Beijing) and, from the beginning, set a goal to become a leading player in the world's largest and most demanding logistics market (China). Fast forward to 2025 and they've set their goals on becoming global leaders in the automotive industry.
In New Zealand, Foton New Zealand distribute the Foton commercial vehicle range, including: the Aumark-S light-duty trucks; Auman D medium-duty trucks; and Auman R heavy-duty truck. The company is undergoing an evolution of brand and product, which includes the local launch of high spec, market-leading product, both with EURO VI Diesel & zero emission solutions.
The Opportunity
Working underneath the CEO & Business Development Manager, we are currently looking for a motivated and skilled Truck Sales Consultant, with high personal standards and integrity, to join our team and be based in Hamilton's head office.
Responsibilities:- Promote the sale and profitability of Foton commercial products in line with established KPI targets.
- Follow the sales and quoting process (record and monitor all inquiries).
- Apply technical expertise to developing Foton truck solutions, which add benefit and value, with consideration of the operating environment and customer requirements.
- Explore new prospects (cold calling) and existing business to grow market share.
- Develop strategies to enter new markets and expand the customer base.
- Examine the market for competitor and market developments.
- Champion customer satisfaction, with both new clients as well as existing owners.
- Within guidelines, promote and enhance product retail advertising.
Requirements:- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Adequate administration and computer literacy, including Microsoft Suites. Ideally experience working with and maintaining a computer CRM system.
- Current driver's licence (up to Class 1 Full or higher).
- Knowledge and understanding of the NZ truck market.
- Prior sales experience in the industry is not required, however knowledge of the automotive/heavy vehicle industry will be highly regarded.
- Automotive industry experience - either Sales, Sales Ops, or Aftersales is acceptable.
- Working with a degree of autonomy and remotely from head office, you will be a self-starter who enjoys driving outcomes and is not shy of pushing the boundaries to grow the brand. You will be confident with managing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and comfortable with supporting team members as and when required.
