About Us
We are St Vincent de Paul in New Zealand (the Society) an international Catholic lay organisation, and well-established, not-for-profit charity operating across the country, with our national office based in Wellington. We are looking for a compassionate individual to support the Society across its various regions and activities in meeting our health, safety, well-being, and safeguarding needs.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Health, Safety, Well-being, and Safeguarding Advisor, you will lead our mission to cultivate healthy and safe working environments. You will be the natural choice as a health and safety partner with our stakeholders. In this role, you will provide knowledgeable, solution-driven health and safety advice, collaborating on diverse matters and activities across New Zealand. You will work with our Society President, Area Councils, and National Executive Officer to assess risks, adopt and deliver tailored health and safety programs, and well-being initiatives, and provide expert guidance to enhance compliance with regulatory standards.
Your role will involve:- Conducting inspections and reviewing safety documentation
- Auditing and offering strategic advice to mitigate risks and hazards effectively
- Playing a key role in problem-solving and influencing decision-making within the Society, its councils and conferences
This role is remote and can be based in any location across New Zealand, with national travel required from time to time.
About You
We are looking for a person who:- Is preferably tertiary qualified in health and safety, with three plus years of experience in facilities management, building, retail, or auditing backgrounds
- Can demonstrate proficiency in applying real-world workplace and site health and safety principles to deliver practical solutions and guidance
- Can build and foster meaningful relationships with our many stakeholders, volunteers, workers, and leaders
- Has strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with various people
- Is comfortable working autonomously while also being a collaborative team member
- Has a full NZ driver license
